I am considering consolidating my student loans. The application states that my husband must also sign them.?

and include his social security number. The consolidator denies that this would make him liable for my loans but I’m not sure that I buy that. Why else would he have to sign for my loans? Wehave separate bank accounts, and most of our debts are separate instead of joint.
